Why choose Mathiveri Island?

3 reasons to visit Mathiveri Island:

1. Picnic Island

One main reason we picked Mathiveri was its easy access to a beautiful Picnic Island. Mathiveri Finholu is a tiny uninhabited island about 100 meters from Mathiveri.During low tide you can walk to it,and when the water is high you can reach it by swimming, kayaking,or taking a boat.

2. Manta Rays

Snorkeling with manta rays is a top activity in the Maldives.A great spot to see them daily is between Mathiveri and Ukulhas Islands. This close location makes manta ray trips from these islands cheaper than from more distant ones.Mathiveri is perfect if you want to skip the busy Ukulhas but still see manta rays.Omadhoo, in southern Ari Atoll, is another great place for manta ray sightings and can be combined with a visit to Dhigurah Island.

3. Authentic Island

Mathiveri is much quieter than nearby islands like Ukulhas and Rasdhoo, which was another reason we chose it.The island has kept its authentic local feel, beautiful nature, and affordable local food.

The Maldives has a tropical climate,so it stays warm all year.Mathiveri Island is good to visit anytime. The dry season runs from November to April, and the rainy season goes from May to October.

Even though the wet season brings more rain, you’ll still get many sunny days.We visited in March and again in August and had great weather both times. If you travel during the rainy season,it’s smart to add one extra day to each island in case of rain. The lower room rates make it a good deal.
